Campaign Starts in FebruaryHelp Get Signatures to Put Parents' Right to Know Back on November BallotBy the end of January, petitions for the Parents' Right to Know and Child Protection initiative should hit the streets. This initiative, known as Proposition 73 in the November, 2005 election, will require an abortionist to notify one parent of an under-18-year-old girl before performing an abortion on her. This measure, whose advertising included the slogan "Protect Our Daughters," will help protect thousands of young girls in California from sexual abuse and exploitation covered up by secret Planned Parenthood abortions. Over 3.6 million Californians voted Yes on Proposition 73 in the November election, and it came the closest of all eight ballot measures to winning. This despite the fact that Yes on 73 spent the least of all the Yes and No sides for the eight initiatives -- 47.2 percent Yes to 52.8 percent No. Building on the experience of Prop 73, proponents of the new Parents Right to Know initiative hope to enlist as many as possible of California's 1,069 Catholic parishes in gathering signatures during the month of February. If volunteers can gather an average of 500 signatures per parish, that will provide over 500,000 of the 900,000 signatures needed. Similar volunteer signature gathering is being planned for other churches and pro-family organizations. Petitions, flyers, and DVDs with video spots made for last year's Prop 73 campaign will be available for every parish in the state. Materials will be in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese and can be viewed on the website www.YESon73.net where extensive campaign information is available.
