CHARISMATIC RENEWAL

God bless you for your publication. A special thank you for your article on the Mission San Jose Charismatic Covenant Community [see "A Covenant with Christ", November[.

The charismatic renewal was instrumental in bringing our family into a new realization and deeper appreciation of what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross and what he has given to us in this beautiful Catholic Church.

Even back then many priests involved in the charismatic renewal influenced us to see the truths in the Catholic Church and her sacraments. They encouraged us during disappointments and helped us focus on Jesus, our true shepherd and his promises to his Church.

Craig Anderson and his Covenant Community represent true charismatic renewal, which is integral to the Catholic Church at large-full life in the Holy Spirit.

When we receive this life through the sacraments we're then equipped to "live and breathe" in our parish life.

Life in the Spirit, under the guidance of Holy Mother Church, is truly exciting and fulfilling. Let's keep our lights shining.

HALLOWEEN READING

I'm returning to you your unsolicited issue of San Francisco Faith. I'm sure someone thought that it would be a funny joke to put our name on your mailing list. It is coincidental that it arrived on the day before Halloween as it read like a horror comic book.

I find it very unchristian how you publicly name and attack people who think differently than you -- one even being a fellow Jesuit (Fr. Uren, SJ). I'm sure that St. Ignatius is turning in his grave knowing that some of his priests are publishing matter such as this from a publishing company that bears his holy name. San Francisco Faith is not worthy of being placed next to America, a fine Jesuit publication, in our community library.

Speaking of "St. Bozo"....

Bro. Richard M. Orona, FSC

Editor's Note: To clarify, San Francisco Faith is not an Ignatius Press publication.

A TOLERANT LIBERAL OPENS UP

Please remove my name from your mailing list. Your material and the way you present your stories are exactly why I left the Church.

As soon as you can stop being judgmental on the rest of the world, you will teach them how to accept and forgive. You guys are Catholic snobs. You want the "magic" brought back to Mass. Are you saying it left? Are you saying Christ isn't in the churches now just because they don't have Latin Masses? Christ never spoke Latin! He spoke Hebrew. Shouldn't we have Masses, therefore, in Hebrew? English is a form of Latin, why do people forget that? Do we go around still saying "Thou art a jerk, henceforth, thou shouldst seek the counsel of a wiseman"? Grow up. Open up. Try talking Latin to a homeless guy on the street. That's where Christ needs to be, that's where you should be! Get me off your list, you guys tick me off.
