YOU SPEAK FOR US

Thank you for speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves. Besides the vulnerable unborn, elderly and handicapped, you also speak up for all of us who need to hear (or need our family members to hear) from priests, deacons, counselors, catechists and Catholic school teachers the real meaning of chastity (as defined by the Church rather than by a misguided "task force"). God bless you!

Catherine Norman,
Fremont

THANK YOU, PROTESTORS

Millions of Americans listened to the protestors, but they did not hear words of peace. Instead, they heard a hysterical condemnation of their good and generous nation for all the violence, hunger and exploitation in the world.

The protestors did not advise America, they indicted America. Their fundamental message was, America is wrong! Americans will remember this.

Thank you protestors.

Mike DeNunzio,

Chairman, San Francisco Republican Party

Editor replies: Certainly, it is hysterical to blame the United States for all the ills of the world -- if that, indeed, is what the protestors did. But should America be immune from indictment? As chairman of a party that has as part of its platform the protection of the unborn -- who are daily slaughtered in this "good and generous" country with relatively little public protest -- does Mr. DeNunzio think America should not be indicted, but only advised? Certainly the peace protestors were not demonstrating against abortion -- but they were condemning other sins against human life and dignity: our exploitation of men, women and children in foreign countries and our indiscriminate modes of warfare that do target innocent civilians and, yes, unborn children. These too are sins crying to heaven for vengeance, not advice.

GOOD FOR MONSIGNOR

What a great photo on the front page of the February edition: Sacramento's Monsignor Edward Kavanagh barring rabid pro-abortion Governor Gray Davis from church property unless he repented of his immoral and apostate beliefs. Good for Msgr. Kavanagh.

On the other hand, we have Father John Rossiter of Assumption Church in Topeka, who not only gave over his church to militantly pro-abortion Governor Kathleen Sebelius for a "spiritual" inaugural event, he even gave her a hug for the TV cameras. I wonder if one of the church event attendees was George ("the killer") Tiller, who has funded Sebelius to the tune of $200,000. Tiller is the most notorious killer of late-term pre-born babies and has "clients" from all over the world.

Which priest do you suppose is truly doing the will of God?

NOT AN OUNCE OF PC IN HIS VEINS

More power to Monsignor Kavanagh for telling Gray Davis to take a hike when the pro-abortion governor wanted to use the Catholic church for a photo opportunity! Kavanagh doesn't have an ounce of politically correct blood in his veins. He's one of those straight-talking priests we used to watch in black and white movies -- an old-fashioned hero. How pathetic by contrast to read the comments of Father Colm O'Ryan of Good Shepherd Church in Beverly Hills (can anything good come out of Beverly Hills?), who welcomes Davis at Sunday Mass and no doubt gives him communion too. Father O'Ryan would welcome Adolf Hitler into the front pew. What a farce. And what a scandal it must cause to his parishioners. No, Father Ryan, your message is not, "judge not and you shall not be judged." Your message is, "this abortion issue is overrated. What's the big deal with killing babies anyway?"

WHAT DID OUR LADY MEAN?

With respect to Our Lady's warning at Fatima, that "many nations will be annihilated," some thoughts occurred to me about the meaning of her prophetic words. We tend to think that she referred to thermonuclear destruction. Is it possible, however, that she was referring to the entity/sovereignty of some nations, i.e., "nationhood"?

The European Union is a good example; and to those countries in this federation, the worst is yet to come!

President Bush is very desirous of forming the conglomerate known as the "Free Trade Association of the Americas," which would ultimately erase national borders -- a decisive step towards world government.

I can't help wondering if this sort of thing is what Our Lady meant when she spoke to the three children. I would like to hear anyone's particular views on this.
